Willy's Whimsical Wednesday Words of Wisdom
Taxes, taxes, taxes. Always due, never ending, never getting lower.
If you are a senior living in your home for many years, it can be
increasingly difficult to remain in your home.
In the year 2000 the average SSI individual received a payment of $512.00 and
for a couple
$769.00.
In 2022 an individual received on average $841.00 and for a couple $1261.00.
Looking
at several properties taken at random the property taxes for the year
2000 were at $512.00 for a given property. In 2022 the same property was
taxed at $1752.00 with seemingly no improvements made to the property.
SSI payments went up in that same time frame about 64%.
Property taxes went up around 242% in that very same time frame.
How
are seniors going to stay in their homes? True, SSI was never intended
to be a person's sole source of income upon retirement age. But
Government payments VS. Government taxes seem like a worthy conversation
to have.
Try to have a Willy Great Day!
