I have a terrible story to share today, but I feel that it needs to be told. Several years ago I had a brand new home built with an attached garage. All brand new from beginning to end. Multitude of inspections finally resulting in an occupancy certificate. We had lived in the home for 6 or 7 months with great pleasure. One day the kids, including several neighborhood children and my own, were playing with some new kittens on the pavement just outside the garage door. The kitties were running in and out of the garage with kids happily swirling amongst them. Someone inadvertently hit the garage door button and down the door came. To our horror, the motion sensors and auto reverse had not been properly set. All I heard from inside the house was screams. The door had crushed one of the kittens right in front of the kids. It was a terrible scene. The children were inconsolable. Later I tried to put my shoulder under the garage door as it came down. I am a pretty stout guy. I could not stop that door. Check your motion "eyes". Please! At least test to see if your auto reverse works in case of an impingement at a minimum. That cat died to tell me that my door was not functioning properly. Please safety check your garage door so you don't have a terrible story to tell. I am sorry but this incident has to be shared.
