Last week a dear friend and relative called me to ask if I knew where the water shutoff was for her house. Took me a while to think about it but I managed to be of some help. It was a great reminder for myself and maybe for others. Knowing where the whole house water shutoff is located can save a real mess in an emergency. That reminds me, pull your fridge forward two or three inches and check your ice maker water supply line. Those poly lines are notorious for leaking. Grab a flashlight and practice your pilates and look back behind there. Is the dust and lint totally dry? Plus you might find that missing pancake flipper and get in some conditioning as well. Do you know where your fire extinguisher is located? Planning on making home fries this week? Better mount it under the sink or in a cabinet so it can't get slowly pushed to the back of the cabinet as you use your everyday items. Takes about 5 minutes, they usually come with a little bracket. You can get small firesuppresants in a can no bigger than a hairspray can. I have one stuffed into the door of my truck. I have one under the barbecue. I might add, that one has been used. Do you know where your electrical breaker panel is located? Is there a bunch of stuff stacked in front of it? That's a really bad idea in case of an emergency. Doesn't take that long to work through today's shortlist sometime this evening. There's nothing to watch on TV anyway.
